This blog was originally created to promote my translation of a Bavarian Illuminati source document by a key player in this mysterious, but short lived secret society, Freiherr Adolph Franz Friedrich Ludwig Knigge (1752-1796). Published in 1788, the original title was Philo’s endliche Antwort auf verschiedene Anforderungen und Fragen, meine Verbindung mit dem Orden der Illuminaten betreffend, literally “Philo’s Final Reply to Various Requests and Questions Concerning my Association with the Order of Illuminati.” That being quite a mouthful, but very much the style of 18th Century writers, I condensed the title of the English translation to Philo’s Reply to Questions Concerning His Association with the Illuminati.

Only three Illuminati source documents have ever been translated in full from German to English: Die Leuchte Des Diogenes by Adam Weishaupt under the direction of Sir Mark Bruback, a writer, model, and performance artist; I translated the other two documents: Kurze Rechtfertigung meiner Absichten: Zur Beleuchtung der neuesten Originalschriften (1787) by Adam Weishaupt, and Philo’s endliche Antwort auf verschiedene Anforderungen und Fragen, meine Verbindung mit dem Orden der Illuminaten betreffend (1788) by Baron Adolph Knigge. Of these documents, Philo’s Reply is the only one currently in print.

Working with these source documents about this controversial topic was an eye opening experience. For every question these documents answered, they raised five more. I began scour the Internet for facts-based, documented sources and the dozen or so scholars brave enough to tackle a subject that can easily ruin someone’s reputation in the academic world. It was fascinating to discover that even in this very narrow academic field, scholars arrive at widely different conclusions.

As a result, the Illuminati Info blog quickly ballooned into something much larger than a simple book promo page. This blog not only chronicles my own journey through this fascinating and important field of study, it has also become a source source of information about the Bavarian Illuminati that is based on facts and documented evidence.
